Legend Behind Stripes On The Back of Indian Squirrels
Legend Behind Stripes On Indian Squirrels
Indian squirrels are seen having stripes on their backs. Maybe it is because of different kinds of pigmentation in different parts of its body in tropical climates.
As per the great epic Ramayana, when Ramachandra and his entourage were going towards Sri Lanka from the southern part of the Indian-landmass ( particularly Rameswaram of present day Tamilnadu), they needed to cross the ocean. Yet, it was an herculean task. His monkeys and bears armed force ( Banarasena)— helped lay the floating bridge along the ocean. The squirrel additionally gave it’s hand in laying the floating bridge yet couldn’t do a lot because of its small size. The monkeys and bears began taunting the squirrel because of its failure. But the squirrel never lost effort and continued putting sand by shaking his wet body on the floating bridge. Ramachandra recognized his sincere work and was dazzled . He fondly stroked the squirrel on his back. This left the squirrels with three stripes.
Squirrels are very intelligent and they respond differently to their surrounding sounds. While making this video , you can observe how this little squirrel is responding to my sounds.
